african drummers

 WALT write a report on school events 

today we had african  drummers  come to our school a tech us  how to drum and we learnt new songs and dances from west africa.I liked it because we got to learn new things. Like crazy dances and cool songs.My favorite part was when we did silly dance.My esperance was that the drums were funny.the drumming  was so loud  it all most burst my eardrums.I had so much fun singing and dancing.sophie was laughing so hard because her brother was drumming like crazy.Also because samuel did the african dance.I think the people teaching us felt happy to be here at our school teaching us. One of them was shaking there but.It was so funny.I hope you liked it. do you like drumming?

 It's a very strange photo, so we had to use adjectives and create a story about his way to get up there. I have created a story.

Let's be honest, I don't think giraffe's can climb

.

The giraffe was hanging off a broken branch.

The brown and cream coloured giraffe was stuck on the brown, stiff branch

. The giraffe gave up on being a koala because he felt extraordinary pain.

crawling down his arm while he was holding on to the tree

.

His hooves almost slipped, but he held on tight. He has wanted to experience some other animal stances, but it was tricky. 

Let's be honest, for a few seconds before the tree branch snapped and went crack, he thought he was a Koala.

The gondolas because the gondolas are so much fun to go on . You can see sheep and grass and sparkly rocks, boats, mountains, warter,snow when you get to the top and the cafe has great food and drinks .

The tram is so much fun because you can go for a tour around . You can see shiny  water, green trees, and boats. They tell you about the city .

In New Brighton you can go to the beach, hot pools and the library, cafes, pier fishing. The pier  cafe has fantastic food and drinks .

At the Botanical gardens you can go to the museum that has lots of  fun activities and the cafe that has good food and drinks ,you can see  tree, statues ,  blue clear water fountains and there are flowers.

This morning Emma Twigg came to New Brighton   Catholic school. She hopped up on the stage and shared her experience in Tokyo. We sung her the New Zealand national anthem and cover me in sunshine. 

Emma Twigg came to room 1 and we all had a photo with Emma twigg. Emma win a gold medal.

  

SChmidt Flips to Bronze

 Schmidt flips to bronzes

Last Sunday in Tokyo it was time for gymnastics with the trampoline. New Zealand had Dylan Schmidt doing flips on the trampoline. He qualified for the finals and came third winning a bronze medal for New Zealand.

 Dylan was the first new zealander to be selected to the trampoline event at an olympics games at rio in 2016.dylan finished in 7th at  rio.he had been selected to tokyo 2020 .makes him one of the first New Zealand gymnasts  .  He is also an animal person and enjoys training his dog.

After his event he said he was stoked and it was a bit tricky. I am looking forward to the next olympics to see if he can go a bit better

Basically it is numbers that we had to identify the tens and the ones from. Later in the week we also had to figure out up to 1000.

Emma Advances - By Room 1

Emma Twigg, serial olympian, advanced to the semi finals with a convincing win in the Quarter finals last

Sunday in Tokyo.

This is Emma’s fourth olympics and her fourth time advancing to the Semi finals. In Rio she placed fourth by less than a second and she has returned reinvigorated by the culture in the NZ team and she says ‘it’s an honour wearing the Silver Fern’. She also has had expert coaching tips from her nephew who said she needs to train harder. After this advice she pushed herself to row over 26 km daily which she told him from Tokyo.

    

After Rio she gave up on rowing that was  in 2016 . She started training  again in 2018 and she won a silver  medal at the 2019 world  rowing championships.

Fort Day 

On  Friday the 26 of March, room one had a fort day. It was a very hot day. We built the forts using blankets we bought from home. It was very loud. We connected forts with other people. We then got dressed into our pjs and we got to play with our toys. Before getting into our forts we watched Story line Online   and then went into our forts. We got to  build the fort  after lunch and our fort was the biggest  fort out of the classroom we had lots of time to build our fort, we had lots of fun. I felt excited, happy, cosy and comfortable. We connected with the boys like Brooklyn, Soma and Laylah, Izzy ,Eva ,me, Amelia, Mayah and Cece. My favourite  thing was everything!!
